This Moment. A Friday ritual. A single photo- no words- capturing a moment from the week. A simple, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor, and remember. – Amanda Blake Soule a.k.a. Soule Mama
Hope your weekend is gorgeous, Yummies! xoxo
The little Strawberry print party dress had come together in early Spring but had not found just the right venue until the invitation arrived. There was a picture of a bear, eight circles, not including the big eyes, with instructions to meet at Bear’s place at 11:00 to celebrate his birthday. Also, it requested, please bring your own bears.
With fabric brought back from Japan and a French pattern (the Honorine by Citronille) that travelled across another ocean, the dress had found its place here in New York. What else could this dress ask for but a Bear fete to feel that it had finally arrived?
The little girl put on the dress, did several twirls in it, and chose sparkly shoes (what else) to wear with it. She brunched, excited about where she would go afterward, barely (ahem) able to eat.
After brunch, it was time to head a few blocks away, to where the Bear lived. The girl and the dress flounced and bounced and jumped down the city street until it arrived at the building.
In the elevator, the little girl pressed her own Bear to her chest, hugging him and the present she had made for Birthday Bear close in anticipation.
The doors opened up into Bear’s apartment. They had arrived.
I’m playing catch up over the next week or so with all the many Corner Views that I missed after Miss Genevieve was born. Thank you to the Corner Viewers who have been coming around here lately and commenting even though I was taking some time to be with the baby. Corner Viewers from around the World:
We’re joining in with Soule Mama’s weekly silent picture show again. Hope that your weekend carries you to many wonderful places!
Ok, how could I resist? Baby Genevieve clearly needed an Oliver + S Bubble Dress in the 0-3 month size sewn for her, and her big sis shouldn’t be the only one on top of the trends. So, yes, here is Baby G in her peacock bubble ensemble.
I had never considered this pattern for Mira. To tell you the truth, it just seems that Mira was not a bubble dress kind of girl by the time I discovered Oliver + S patterns. But Genevieve? Oh yes! She is a bubble girl.
Speaking of bubbles, while she was holding them back a bit here when she modeled her new dress, she has been entertaining herself lately by blowing a bubble or two. As you can see, she is smiling away. Sometimes it is a shy, private smile, and other times it is a full on full-of-light beamer. With her smiles, she has each of her family members wrapped firmly around her little finger.
Then, when she blows the little bubbles? Well, let’s just say that this girl knows how to take it to the limits of what we can all handle.
With the Liberty leftovers from Mira’s First Day of Kindergarten Dress, I made these Puppet Show Shorts from an Oliver + S pattern. These shorts are right on trend for this summer, and I have seen similar styles sold all over my neighborhood. Both Crew Cuts and Capucine both have seriously cute versions.
Ours, in a hot pink and white floral, finally got to come out of the wardrobe this week when the temperatures climbed up to acceptable short weather. Mira reports that they are soft and comfy. Since they are both comfortable and cute, there are a couple more pairs in the works. I am thinking about doing one pair in linen and one in some sort of stripe and/or polka dot.
What do you think? What trends have been inspiring you this season?
